The Vibrio Cholerae Real Time PCR Kit is an in vitro diagnostic assay for the qualitative detection of Vibrio cholerae DNA in human stool specimens. The multiplex PCR test detects Vibrio cholerae and differentiates the O1 and O139 serogroups to support laboratory cholera diagnosis.
Designed for gastrointestinal infectious disease laboratories, the assay combines a 5-copy-per-reaction limit of detection with an internal control. A 200 μL sample input is specified in the product parameters, supporting the detection of Vibrio cholerae by PCR within a standardized laboratory workflow.
General information
Vibrio cholerae is a Gram-negative bacterium that causes cholera, a severe infection of the small intestine. Transmitted through contaminated food or water, it releases cholera toxin, leading to rapid dehydration and critical electrolyte loss through acute diarrhea and vomiting. Cholera remains a major global public health threat, prone to sudden outbreaks and pandemics.
