Hepatitis C Virus Real Time PCR Kit

RUO

Introduction

The Hepatitis C Virus Real Time PCR Kit is a real-time PCR research assay for the quantitative analysis of HCV RNA in research samples (serum, plasma).

HCV is the causative pathogen of human hepatitis C, belonging to the genus Hepacivirus within the family Flaviviridae. The primary sources of HCV infection are blood and blood products. Persistent infection is typically asymptomatic, and approximately 80% of chronic infections may progress to cirrhosis or liver cancer. Consequently, HCV poses a significant threat to people's health. The RNA content is a direct indicator reflecting the replication and infectiousness of HCV. A high viral load in patients undergoing treatment suggests ineffectiveness, often necessitating a prolonged course of treatment. Therefore, the quantitative detection of HCV RNA in the blood is crucial. It not only reduces the risks of HCV transmission through blood transfusion but also aids in prognosis and the selection of appropriate treatment. This kit employs a quantitative fluorescence PCR technique to detect HCV RNA.
