Introduction
The HIV-1 Quantitative RT-PCR Kit is a real-time PCR research assay for the quantitative analysis of HIV-1 RNA in research samples (serum, plasma).
HIV is the virus that causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) and weakens the human immune system. It was initially first identified in Central America in 1981. HIV is a lentivirus that infects cells of the human immune system and belongs to the retrovirus category. HIV is classified into types 1 and 2 (HIV-1 and HIV-2) based on serological reactions. HIV-1 is prevalent worldwide and is classified into groups M, N, and O based on genetic variability. Laboratory tests for HIV include antibody tests, qualitative and quantitative RNA tests, and CD4+ T cell counts.
