Influenza is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by influenza viruses, which is mainly transmitted through airborne droplets. Influenza viruses are divided into types A, B, and C based on the differences in the antigenicity of nucleoprotein. Influenza B virus is a single-stranded RNA virus in the family Orthomyxoviridae. It can be classified into Victoria and Yamagata lineages based on the differences in antigenicity and gene specificity, and is the pathogen of influenza B, which is characterized by sudden onsets, chills, and fevers with the body temperature peaking within a few hours to 24 hours at 39°C-40°C or even higher. It is also accompanied by headaches, body aches, fatigue, and decreased appetite. Respiratory symptoms are mild, such as dry throat, sore throat, dry cough, and possibly diarrhea.
The BioPerfectus Influenza B Virus (Victoria & Yamagata) Real Time PCR Kit is intended for the qualitative detection of nucleic acids of influenza B viruses (Victoria and Yamagata lineages) in human throat swab samples.
