Leptospira Real Time PCR Kit

CE-IVD

Introduction

The Leptospira Real Time PCR Kit is an in vitro diagnostic leptospirosis test for the qualitative detection of Leptospira DNA in human whole blood or urine. The assay is intended for professional molecular testing when leptospirosis is considered in the clinical workup.

Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease caused by bacteria of the genus Leptospira. It affects humans and animals and is most commonly found in temperate or tropical climates. Leptospiras are found in a wide variety of animal species, primarily rats and pigs, which may continue to excrete bacterium into the environment continuously. Millions of people are infected each year worldwide, but information and treatment can be limited.

Mild cases may have a self-limited fever, while severe cases may present with the symptoms of acute inflammatory liver injury and kidney injuries, such as jaundice, hemorrhage, and uremia, or symptoms of meningitis, such as altered consciousness and meningeal irritation signs, with the most severe form being a hepatic and renal failure, massive pulmonary haemorrhage, or even death.

A 5 μL sample input is used for real-time PCR detection. The kit includes an internal control and is compatible with multiple mainstream PCR instruments.

Features

• Direct DNA detection: Qualitatively detects Leptospira DNA by real-time PCR.

• Two stated sample types: Suitable for human whole blood and urine.

• Internal control: Supports monitoring of the analytical process.

• Efficient workflow: 62-minute testing time with compatibility across multiple mainstream instruments.

Applications

The kit supports professional molecular testing for leptospirosis. Applications include:

  • Whole-blood PCR testing: Leptospira DNA detection from human whole blood when a blood test for leptospirosis is required within the intended use.
  • Urine PCR testing: Qualitative molecular analysis of human urine specimens for Leptospira DNA.
  • Zoonotic disease laboratory workflows: Testing in clinical or reference laboratories.
